Designed to be Driven into the Soil, Opened for Sample Extraction and Removed for Subsequent Use.

Developed as a survey tool for the collection of discrete soil gas samples, the GVP Retract-A-Tip system can be inserted and subsequently removed without damage to the tip. Once driven into the soil to a pre-determined depth, opened, and a vapor sample extracted, the tip can then be closed and driven to a greater depth, re-opened, and another sample taken. The tip can be removed from the ground, decontaminated and reused.

Application
The unique, hardened stainless steel tip has been designed to open when the extensions are pulled back a few inches. Attach optional pump to vapor tube and extract sample. This may be repeated at different depths, for as many samples as needed. The complete probe may then be recovered, decontaminated and reused.

Gas detection instruments, PID's, FID's, with a positive displacement sampling pump, may be connected to the GVP Retract-A-Tip vapor tube to obtain a direct reading of the contaminant levels.

Includes similar components as the GVP dedicated tip system as well as one reusable GVP Retract-A-Tip point. Also available with or without a rotary hammer drill.

Recommendations
We recommend that a pilot hole be done by using a AMS tile probe and AMS slide hammer prior to insertion of either a GVP dedicated tip or the GVP Retract-A-Tip, to quickly check for obstructions prior to placement. All kits include an extendible AMS tile probe and AMS slide hammer.

When using the kits to obtain samples of shallow groundwater, use the optional screens for the points and the Retract-A-Tip to prevent blockage. The 12-Volt Vacuum Pump supplied with a lighter plug will be found most useful.
